Remove Image Background
Use the Image Studio to automatically remove product photo backgrounds for clean, professional listings.
Remove product image backgrounds
The Image Studio uses AI (fal.ai Qwen) to automatically detect and isolate the product in each image, then replace the background with a clean, solid color. It works reliably even on light-colored products photographed on light backgrounds.
Select products for Studio processing
Go to the Products page. Select one or more products using the checkboxes, then click "Studio" in the selection toolbar.
Configure processing options
Two main toggles:
- Background removal: Enable/disable background removal. If disabled, only reframing is applied.
- Reframing: Centers and crops the product within the chosen aspect ratio with uniform padding. If disabled, the product is placed as-is on the new background.
Then choose:
- Background color: white, light gray, beige, black, or any custom color (hex input).
- Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square, ideal for Shopify), 3:4 (portrait), or 4:3 (landscape).
Select which images to process
You can check/uncheck individual images. By default, all images from the selected products are included.
Launch processing
Click "Launch". A progress bar shows the current status. Processing takes a few seconds per image.
Validate the results
After processing completes, the validation panel appears. You see each image before/after side by side. Approve or reject each image individually. Nothing is applied to your product cards until you explicitly confirm. See Validate Studio Results for more details.
The Studio works best on isolated product photos (clothing, accessories, shoes). Group photos or lifestyle shots may produce less predictable results.
Studio processing costs approximately 5 cents per image. Check your balance in Settings > Billing before launching a large batch.
